You Gotta Love Those Wildwood Days!
|
 |
There's something special about The Wildwoods. Some would say it's the
miles of beautiful and free beaches. To others, it's the world-famous
boardwalk - jam-packed with amazing amusement rides and attractions. And a
few might even say it's simply the smell of warm funnel cake on a July
night. Whatever it is, it's undeniably The Wildwoods, and it's been drawing
families to this |
five-mile southern New Jersey Island for generations.

The Boardwalk: Two Miles Of Smiles |
 |
Welcome to the largest boardwalk in America! It features 38 blocks of neon lights, delicious treats, arcade and carnival-style games, amusements, and more rides than Disneyland
-including seven world-class roller coasters.
|
A boardwalk highlight is Morey's Piers, the largest amusement piers in the world with over 100 exciting amusement park rides and attractions, including two large beachfront water parks, kiddie rides, roller coasters and more! Major rides and roller coaster attractions include, The Great Nor'Easter, The Sea Serpent, The Great White, the Giant Ferris Wheel, the Zoom Phloom and the Sky Ride. Plus, throughout the year, Morey's Piers host plenty of cool events for kids like Radio Disney concerts and the Beach Blast soccer tournament.
More than just rides and games, the Boardwalk is also host to an endless number of souvenir shops and eateries. You'll find a delicious mixture of goodies from fresh roasted nuts and fudge to traditional
'Boardwalk' fare like pizza, funnel cake, ice cream, cotton candy and a local favorite, saltwater taffy. According to legend, saltwater taffy originated in 1883 when candy maker David Bradley arrived at his candy stand one morning to find his taffy doused with ocean spray. Unwilling to discard the candy, he changed its name to
"salt water taffy" and sold it that day. Today, the sticky treat still remains a Wildwoods tradition.
The Wildwoods' Boardwalk is the place to enjoy the refreshing salt air any time of the day or night - whether you're out on a morning bike ride, enjoying the carnival atmosphere of a neon-lit evening or simply out for a stroll beside the blue Atlantic.

Sightseeing Excursions |
 |
Sightseeing is a must in the historic Wildwoods! No matter what part of the island you're on: North Wildwood, Wildwood or Wildwood Crest, there is something to see and do. You'll find the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse, a beautifully restored

| 1950's Doo-Wop is Alive and Well |
Off the boardwalk, the facades of many resort structures reflect the look of America's mid-century life of rock and roll.
Doo-Wop architecture, as it's called, got its start in the 1950's when the popularity of the automobile gave birth to the
"American Vacation." Visitors flocked to the Wildwoods and a new breed of motels
- with colorful neon, outlandish styles and far out themes - emerged to accommodate the new traffic.
Half a century later, Doo-Wop architecture is as distinctly visible throughout town as it was in 1960.
