Can you find "The Barbeque Capital of the World?"
In Lexington, South Carolina!
Known as the "Barbeque Capital of the World," Lexington hosts an annual Barbecue Festival with a parade of pigs. Lexington barbecue got its start in the 1920s when Sid Waver and Varner Swicegood set up cinderblock cookers across from the Lexington County Courthouse and started cooking on big court days. They cooked pork shoulders over a hickory wood fire. To this day, the barbeque tradition in Lexington is upheld with many barbeque restaurants to pick from in town.

It's All About Groups!
April 27, 2007
|

|
|
Good morning! I hope your week has been good
to you - but, even if it hasn't, I have a
treat for you this weekend.
I was interviewing a tour operator from
Georgia when he made an interesting point.
"My favorite place to take my groups is the
Lowcountry, because it's home. I can share
this beautiful area with them and really give
them an insider's perspective. BUT, if I'm
not with my groups, Paris is where I'd go,
hands down. The culture, the cuisine, the
people, it's wonderful!"
It was interesting to me the way he loved
to take people to his home, indeed, to his
house, but his favorite city to travel to was
Paris. That got me to thinking:
1. What is your favorite place to take a group and
why?
2. What is your favorite place to go as a
traveler and why?
Now here's the treat part. Send me your
answers and you'll be put in a drawing to win
a $500 gift certificate to the Cortina Inn in
Killington, Vt! Once all the tallies are in,
I'll report on what I've found so you can see
where you stand.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this
issue of InSite.
Happy travels,
Kelley

in the world wash the shores of New Brunswick's
most famous geological feature, the Hopewell

in the world-renowned Bay of Fundy. The Bay
actually
receives 100 billion tons of tidal seawater each

these tides,
rising up to an incredible 52 feet, stretch
out along
New Brunswick's Fundy Coastal Drive, washing
over
these pristine shores, exposing life,
creating life and
sustaining life.
Now imagine yourself with ringside seats
to this
Marine Wonder of the World - the effect is truly
extraordinary. You're walking on the ocean floor
anticipating the glory and wonder soon coming
your

Five Tips for Top Google Ranking In Less Than 30
Minutes
Want to reach millions of your best group travel
prospects looking for what you're promoting in
minutes? You can do this profitably with Pay-Per-Click
(PPC) advertising, also called sponsored links,
located on the right hand side of a Google, Yahoo or
MSN search.
Placing PPC ads is fast, easy, targeted and cost
effective - if done right. Your classified-type PPC ads
are displayed when someone does a search that
matches the keyword categories you want to
reach. You only pay a fee when someone clicks on
your specific ad.
Cost per click (CPC) ranges from .05 to
way over $5 per click. CPC is determined by the
competitiveness of the keyword phrases and factors
described below.

Southeast Travel Tips
By Jaron Baalgard
Looking for this year's 'it' destination for
your next group trip? Turn your compass southeast
and make your way to the place where sophistication
meets satisfaction and surrender to southern
hospitality. The southeastern states are the place to
indulge in country music, clear coasts, and Cajun
cooking along with discovering alluring towns and
enjoying major U.S. cities.
There is no better way to unify a trip to
the South than to include many of the world-class and
unique amusement/theme parks where the idea of
excitement, relaxation and, overall, the idea of vacation
is realized in full. Many amusement/theme
parks offer attractions that go far beyond the thrill ride;
with concerts, games, shows, and other special
events, an amusement/theme park is a great way to
experience the spirit of an area and provide
unforgettable experiences for your group.
So let's head Southeast and take a look at
what's
new. This guide will help point out the
places you
should visit to experience the best of this
fascinating
area.

Hub & Spoke: Coachella Valley, Calif.
By Elana Andersen
About 100 miles west of Los Angeles there is a jog in
the road and you see the towering San Jacinto
Mountains and its passage opening the way to the
vibrant, palm-studded desert oasis, glowing with blue
skies and stylish living-a vacationer's paradise.
Welcome to the Coachella Valley, home to the Palm
Springs' desert resort communities with their 110 golf
courses, 600 tennis courts, and 30,000 swimming
pools.
This area is the ancestral home of the Agua
Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians who knew
the area as "la palma de la mano de Dios",
the palm of God's hand, and their ancient
healing mineral waters continue to be a part
of the Palm Springs success story.

Turn Any Setback into a Positive Experience
By Valerie Greene
Most people would love to find the mythical
genie in a magic lamp. They'd rub the lamp,
set the genie free and instantly get three
wishes that could change their life. What
would you wish for? Money? Success? Health?
Well, guess what, you already have the magic
genie's power within. That's right. The power
of the mind can literally change your life
and make all your wishes come true.
Realize that everything we say, do, or think
sends a message to the brain, and the brain
works very hard to make our messages come
true. So if you focus your mental energy on
negative things, then in most cases you'll
get exactly what you envisioned. On the other
hand, if you focus your mental energy on
positive things, even when a situation looks
bleak, you can create a positive outcome.
Following are some suggestions for making the
most of any situation and turning it into a
positive.

Multigenerational Cruising
By Cindy Bertram
As Bob Dickinson, Carnival Cruise Lines'
President and CEO comments, "Families have moved
beyond the summer road trip and are gravitating
towards enriching cultural experiences they can share
together."
Multigenerational travel is a definite growth
area. Today, the focus on creating services and
facilities which are in tune with today's lifestyles make
multigenerational travel on ships easier than ever
before. And with the continued, aggressive cruise
industry expansion in terms of diversity rather than the
ships themselves, cruising is a perfect option.
What is multigenerational travel? I like to
think of it as a group that comes together sharing a
common interest yet also includes some different age
ranges. It could be adults traveling with their adult
children, or adults traveling with adult children and
grandchildren.
Diversity is the key - ages of travelers fall into
different segments, from mature consumers in their
mid-sixties and older, to Baby boomers and
Generations X and Y.

New Group Travel Directory Site Unveiled
Seeking to better connect buyers and sellers in the
$76 billion leisure group travel industry, we have
unveiled an updated version of its vertical search
engine directory for the industry,
GroupTravelDirectory.com.
The site is the most comprehensive resource
available in the industry, with unlimited, free access to
over 5,000 group-friendly suppliers. Its dual-
organizational model means that group travel
organizers can search either by destination or
category of interest to hone in on suppliers that are
capable of handling group business.
"We've seen monumental growth in online
research in the group travel market," says Jeff Gayduk,
publisher of Premier Tourism Marketing." As
planners - either professional or novice turn to the
web more frequently, GroupTravelDirectory.com has
grown and evolved as a resource tool."
Key features of the new site include a clickable
map on the homepage that allows planners to hone in
on resources, by-state, a more streamlined category
structure and improved graphical displays of search
results. "Our goal with GroupTravelDirectory.com is
not to recreate a supplier's website but to provide
them with an opportunity to showcase their company
and provide quick links to websites and emails - thus
speeding up the buy-sell process.
Group Travel Directory also announced record-
breaking results for its group hotel booking engine. In
March of this year, over 3,400 room nights were
booked through the site or its affiliates. The
GroupTravelDirectory.com booking engine features
over 20,000 hotels at guaranteed low group rates.
For planners, there is no registration or
cumbersome password combination to remember.
Suppliers may register for a basic membership free of
charge, premier memberships are just $195 annually,
complimentary with a placement ad in November's
Annual Group Travel Directory Print Guide.
