    It's All About Groups!

    writing online

I really like online writing. It's portable and accessible in ways that print writing can't be. And it's immediate. As I write this intro, I'm not writing to an audience of thousands, even though this goes out to more than 9,000 people - I'm writing to one colleague. I'm sending you an email with information that we think will help you in your own work. At the very least, we're helping you recall memories of places you've been, or helping you form first impressions of places you'd like to go.

I write this because we're launching our next generation of e-zines starting this January. The first, "InSite on Youth Group Travel," will complement Prep Traveler magazine and PrepTraveler.com . It will include a plethora of information that's relevant to the youth group market - whether that group is a college drum corps, an eighth-grade class trip or a small madrigals choir.

If you service youth groups or you'd like to, send me an email back to let me know you'd like to receive the first issue. There's nothing better than getting a head start on your planning and, with help, you can really get the ball rolling on 2008/2009.

    Happy Halloween!

    Hawaii: Navigating the Neighbor Islands
    By Elana Anderson

Sailing among the Hawaiian Islands is a time-honored tradition. The ancient Polynesians are believed to have arrived from the Marquesas and Society Islands via outrigger canoes sometime between 300 and 1,000 A.D. These first residents explored and settled the chain of seven islands and, through the centuries, other seafaring cultures have made Hawaii their home.

Recently, cruising has returned to Hawaii in a big way. Even the diehard Hawaii vacationer, who year after year returns to their favorite island, is jumping onboard for an interisland sea-going adventure.

    City Focus: Tampa Bay, Fla.
    By Sara Rannells

Located on Florida's west coast, bordering the Gulf of Mexico, the Tampa Bay area is one of Florida's top travel destinations. Tampa has an average temp of 72 degrees and nearby St. Petersburg boasts over 600 miles of coastline, holding the record for most days of sunshine in a year with 361.

Taste-test some succulent fruits, spend some time shopping or go onboard some of the most infamous boats around while you and your group head over to one of Florida's most popular tourist destinations, Tampa Bay.

    The 90/10 Rule: Brilliant!
    By Mike Marchev

The photo above was taken in the West Palm Beach Airport last week as I was heading for the luggage carousel.

Tiger Woods was knee deep in trouble peering toward his next target. Focused. Concentrating. Balanced. And obviously thinking of what lies ahead, rather than how he got himself into this mess.

On the poster was drawn a vertical line with a couple of cross bars. These bars segmented the larger line into two distinct zones. The smaller zone only consisted of 10% and accompanied the words: "What you did." The larger zone consisted of a full 90% and represented "What you do next."

To borrow from that Guinness commercial on TV: BRILLIANT! If only we all could manage to internalize this one message (October 22, 2007) we would all be in high cotton living large and loving every bit of it. This is not just a worn out cliche my friends, it is BRILLIANT.

Yesterday is gone, history, dead, useless. What you do from here on forward will make you the success you want to be ... what ever that entails.

This is my new favorite reminder. I am calling it the 90/10 Rule. What you did: 10%. What you do next: 90%.

    BRILLIANT!
