A Star is Born in Chicago
    Macy's State Street

A star is born! The transformation from Marshall Field's to Macy's is complete. Visitors to the Macy's on State Street flagship store are invited to enjoy the great new Macy's enhancement while learning more about the beloved traditions that make this store so special. Renowned architecture and history, a grand shopping experience, fine dining, signature events and a world-class visitor center are all available to visitors.

Visitors to Macy's on State Street can still enjoy the many historical and architectural features of this one hundred and fifty year old department store. This flagship store is a treat for history and architectural buffs inside and out. The two great Clocks defining Macy's have become Chicago icons. These "Sentinels of State Street" with their ornamental ironwork have been a common meeting place for visitors and residents for the past century. Inside, visitors lose themselves in the architectural wonder. The dazzling Tiffany ceiling with more than 1.6 million pieces of favrile glass, the largest of its kind, was designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany and is sure to put a sparkle in everone's eye.

A Fate Worse Than Death: Tips to Take the Terror Out of Giving Presentations
    By Roger Seip

Why is the prospect of trying to communicate information in front of even one person so horrifying? Most glossophobes fear looking bad, being criticized, suffering rejection and losing business or friends-all because they are certain they will forget what they'd planned to say. Maybe you have had the experience of forgetting a speech or presentation, or you've seen it happen to someone else and you don't want it to happen to you. Ever.

Most people memorize speeches by rote, or word-for-word repetition-and try to deliver it exactly as they've written it. You probably don't realize that this method of learning is actually setting you up to forget what you're supposed to say because it creates tremendous stress, which is in turn the number one killer of memory.

Four Tips to Relieve Presentation Terror

Marchev When Only The Best Will Do
    By Mike Marchev

I am coming fresh off a hospital family type emergency, sort of, kind of.

All is well at the Marchev household, but I was not sure I could say that a few weeks ago. The good news is that my mother in law is alive, well and still with us. That means more of the world's best chocolate cakes, among other things. But I digress.

While doing hospital duty, a very interesting thing happened before my eyes which made me think of you, my readers. The family had to decide where to move my mother in law in order for her to receive a double whammy, heart valve replacement/fix gizmo.

As I am the"in law" in this scenario, I had to step back and watch as my wife's family did their due diligence. Here is what I heard loud and clear. "Who is the best? Where is the best hospital?"

How apropos. Who is the best and where is the best? Not once did money, or convenience enter the equation. When something is important to a person, they only care about a very few things. 1) Who performs this service better than anybody else, and 2) How fast can we get there?

I'll spare you the rhetoric from this point on. All I will say, and this will come in the gentle form of a reminder, that it is in your best interest to be the best at what you do. Then, and only then, will you have people beating down your doors with little or no concern of "how much."
