Can you visit the gravesite of Ham the
Astrochimp?
In Alamogordo, New Mexico!
Ham the Astrochimp was the first chimp in space,
traveling 155 miles in 16.5 minutes before splashing down
safely in the Atlantic. Afterwards, he lived in the National
Zoo in Washington, DC, and then in a zoo in North Carolina
until he died of old age in 1983, at age 27.
(Incidentally, Smokey the Bear also lived in the National
Zoo and is also buried in New Mexico, in the town of
Capitan.)
Visit the State Tourism Office
website for more information on Alamogordo and their famous
chimp! |

Mod Art Dots Downtown Indy
Exclusive Online Feature
Indianapolis made history when it opened the world's
largest public art project by British artist Julian Opie two
weeks ago. Julian Opie: Signs features ten monumental
installations throughout downtown and one site-specific
installation in the entry pavilion at the Indianapolis Museum
of Art. The downtown installations include an electrically
lit, towering image of Canadian rocker Bryan Adams rising 16 1/2
feet high in White River State Park, two LED sculptures one
of a man, one of a woman walking with pedestrians on two
well-traveled city corners, and a four-sided LED titled "Sara
Dancing" on a busy intersection.
There's also a series of metal sculptures of Opie's models
on Monument Circle, while a sky bridge over a busy
thoroughfare is wrapped with a vinyl artwork titled “Christine
Swam Amongst the Fishes.” Read the entire article on Group

Juggling the Pressures of Work and Home
A Juggler’s Guide to Staying in
Balance
If you often feel like a juggler, trying to balance all the
different responsibilities of your life, you’re not alone.
Between work demands, home and family obligations, interests
and hobbies, community involvement, and personal/professional
development pursuits, many people feel that they have too many
balls in the air at once. And unfortunately, the situation is
only getting worse.
With the proliferation of PDAs, cell phones, and other
technologies, we often have no escape from the barrage of
intrusions: clients calling after hours, the boss assigning
yet another project, and friends needing help...now. People
expect us to be always reachable at a moment’s notice. For
many, the very tools that were supposed to make our lives
easier have only made us more stressed. Following are some secrets from the
world of juggling that apply to anyone’s life.
