Cutting-edge ideas combine with rich history in Houston and Galveston. As the fourth largest city in the nation,Houston is a progressive and culturally diverse hub of activity, offering a number of attractions for any group, from parks and gardens to museums and shopping. But when you need a break from the hustle and bustle, Galveston Island is conveniently located 50 miles south of the city. Here history can be experienced in a whole new way, and enjoying the water is a natural way to rejuvenate. WHAT'S NEW Discovery Green, the new $122-million, 11.78-acre green space in downtown Houston is scheduled to open on April 13. More than your average park, Discovery Green includes a two-acre lawn that affords a stunning view of the city, wetland and upland gardens, and tree-shaded walks that lead to a one- acre pond. There are also a number of leisure opportunities available for both young and old, including a children’s playground, jogging trail, model boat pond, interactive waterscape, and areas for horseshoes, bocce ball and croquet. This WiFi-connected site features art exhibits and space for musicians and performing arts groups to entertain visitors, in addition to offering both elegant and casual indoor and outdoor dining options. Once Houston’s CityPass launches in May, touring the city will be easier than ever. Houston will be joining 10 other cities in the United States and Canada in offering reduced admission at some of its most popular attractions.Participating attractions are the Houston Zoo, Space Center Houston, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, The Health Museum,Children’s Museum of Houston,Downtown Aquarium and George Ranch. In addition to paying less for entrance fees, ticket holders can avoid most main entrance ticket lines. Read More here
