Walking and Cycling For almost a decade, real estate agent Rob Webber was an amateur long-distance cyclist, participating in cycling events around the United States to raise money for HIV/AIDS organizations. However, when discrepancies arose about the percentage of funds raised that were actually going to the organizations, he decided to do something about it. Although Rob has no background in the travel industry, he organizes successful week-long trips to European destinations such as the Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland. On these excursions, every one from college students to retirees can walk or ride bicycles with purpose while enjoying sightseeing opportunities along the way. Participants in ...For A Cause pay for their trip and raise a minimum of $1,000 in pledges, half of which is given to either the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation or the Y-ME Breast Cancer Organization and the other half to the charity of their choice. “It makes it personal for participants if they can raise money for a cause that is close to their heart,” Rob said.
