The American Bus Association Foundation has received more than $60,000 in donations for scholarship and research funds. The ABA board of directors came together with a gesture of support, raising nearly $40,000 for the ABA Foundation during the fall meeting at the Gaylord National Convention Center on the Potomac last month. "Witnessing the generosity of ABA members continues to amaze me," said ABA President & CEO Peter Pantuso. "We applaud these acts of commitment to our industry's upcoming leaders and research advancements." Each year the ABA Foundation awards 18 scholarships worth $2,500 to students pursuing academic coursework in preparation for a career in the motorcoach, tour or travel industries. In 10 years of academic outreach, more than $300,000 in financial support has been awarded to scholars. In addition to scholarship, the foundation also supports both professional and graduate research of the motorcoach travel industry. Studies include Economic Impact of Motorcoach Destinations, Comparisons of Energy Use and Emissions, Impact of Motorcoaches on Society and Economy, and University-Based Research Programs.
